Preparing Students to be Prepared for the 21st Century

In order to provide our students the most current information and help them prepare for the rigors of the real world, N-GENioUS has adopted the guidelines set out by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. This unique public-private organization was formed in 2002 to create a successful model of learning for this millennium that incorporates 21st-century skills into our system of education. The members of this organization include Dell Computer Corporation, Cisco Systems, Microsoft Corporation, Apple Computers and the National Education Association, to name a few.

The information provided below is directly from the Partnership for 21st Century Skills publication: “Learning for the 21st Century.” N-GENioUS Academy has been designed to incorporate these skills as effectively as possible. With our small class sizes, community-based learning and cutting-edge technology, we are positioned to concentrate on these skills and incorporate the 21st-Century content throughout our curriculum.

To cope with the demands of the 21st century, students need to know more than core subjects. They need to know how to use their knowledge and skills – by thinking critically, applying knowledge to new situations, analyzing information, comprehending new ideas, communicating, collaborating, solving problems, making decisions. Philosopher John Dewey believed “the aim of education is to enable individuals to continue their education . . . The object and reward of learning is continued capacity for growth.”
